Beta Sitosterol
This natural plant phytosterol Beta Sitosterol is found
in almost all plants. Beta Sitosterol has been shown to
decrease cholesterol, help reguate blood sugar levels
and is believed to be the main active constituent in saw
palmetto. Beta Sitosterol has been used to support the
symptoms of BPH, or benign prostatic hypertrophy.
Saw Palmetto
Saw Palmetto contains natural phytosterols such as beta
sitosterol. These Phytosterols support benign prostatic
hypertrophy by inhibiting DHT formation. DHT is also believed
to be associated with male pattern baldness. Saw Palmetto
is listed in the German E-Monographs as a remedy for BPH.
Arginine
Arginine is an amino acid found in the normal diet. Arginine
is essential to nitric oxide production. Nitric Oxide
is associated with arterial elasticity and increased circulaton
and is the basis of Arginine supplementation in male sexual
health nutraceutical products. Arginine is also a supplement
used by body builders to aid in muscular repair.
Tribulus Terrestris, Avena Sativa and Maca
Tribulus terrestris supplementation increases the production
of leuteinizing hormone which increases the levels of
free testosterone. Avena Sativa has been used in herbal
medicine as an aphrodisiac. Avena Sativa also stimulates
leuteinizing hormone release which results in increased
levels of free unbound testosterone. Maca is a herb which
grows high in the Andes which has been used by Peruvian
shamen as a male aphrodisiac for centuries.
Pygeum
and Pumpkin Seed
Pygeum Africanum is an extract from the bark of an African
tree which has been used by tribal bush shamen as a male
tonic. Pygeum has been used for BPH in men. Pumpkin Seed
extract contains plant phytosterols that are used to increase
urinary flow.
L-Alanine, L-Glycine and L-Glutamic Acid
These three amino acids L- alanine, L-glycine and L-glutamic
acid are found in normal male prostatic secretions. Studies
of supplementation with these three amino acids have shown
them to reduce symptoms of prostatic hypertrophy.
Grapeseed Extract
Grape seed extract contains essential fatty acids and
plant tocopherols as well as being a powerful antioxidant.
Antioxidants fight free radicals by binding to free electrons...Free
radicals are most simply described as a type of biological
rust that can lead to premature cell aging. Grape Seed
Extract is the most durable antioxidant, remaining in
the bloodstream for up to three days and one of the few
antioxidants that readily cross the blood brain barrier
to protect nervous tissues.
Lycopene,
Zinc and Chromemate
Lycopene is a carotenoid found in tomatoes which contains
plant phytols. Daily consumption of lycopene has been
shown to reduce low density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation
which can lead to atherosclerosis. Zinc is a component
of over 70 enzymes naturally found in the body. Specifically,
zinc supplementation has been shown to increase sperm
counts in men. Chromemate is the superior bioavailable
from of chromium. Nine out of ten american diets are chromium
deficient according to the USDA. Chromium helps the body
use insulin more efficiently and is a regulator of normal
blood sugar levels.
